A Yarmouth organization offering support for youth has received a grant from the province.
The Aidaen Mae Fund will get $125,000 to help purchase the building they’re currently renting, known as Aidaen’s Place on Main Street.
Yarmouth MLA and Health and Wellness Minister Zach Churchill says having strong community organizations that support young people is key to having a robust system of mental health support in Nova Scotia.
“This is one of 20 grants that we’re giving out to local organizations that focus on mental wellness, and provide peer-to-peer and local community support to those that can benefit from it.”
Aidaen’s Place opened in 2019, and 15 youth are supported each day by 22 volunteers, all free of charge.
They offer peer support for leadership and life skills, access to daily meals, laundry, clothing, and more.
