A local artist says a potential summer re-opening of the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia Western Branch would be wonderful.
Dan Earle, with the Yarmouth Art Society is reacting to news last week that the province has directed the art gallery board to re-open the building on Main Street in Yarmouth as soon as possible.
It’s been closed since January, 2020, when smoke from the ventilation system caused damage.
Earle says this will help bring art back to our region.
“The Art Gallery of Nova Scotia wants to have people enjoy the wealth of art that they own, one way to get it out to the people is to put it out where they are, which in our case is Southwestern Nova Scotia. Just having the facility there for people to use, to go to special art programs, to enjoy the gift shop and to visit, it’s important. We missed that.”
Earle says he’s looking forward to being able to offer programs for students at the art gallery once again.
He says this will benefit not only Yarmouth County, but Shelburne and Digby too, as a way to show the best our region has to offer.
