Yarmouth town council voted yesterday to begin work on replacing lights in the pool at the former YCMA building.
Mayor Pam Mood says $6,300 of the community trust fund will be used for the work.
“A little bit over $10,000 in that pot and today council used that to get moving on putting lights in the pool,” said Mood. “It’s a safety issue of course and it has to be done. We’re excited about that.”
The town also became the first of the three municipal partners to approve recent recommendations from the Mariners Centre Expansion Steering Committee.
The recommendations task the Mariners Centre with operating the bridge facility at 275 Main Street, as well as developing a business plan and budget.
The Municipality of Argyle will meet about the recommendations today.
