Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Robert Strang says there’s no evidence of community spread in the province.
That following a jump in case numbers, with several still under investigation.
Dr. Robert Strang reported one new COVID-19 case today. The case is in the northern zone and under investigation.
“We have two groups of individuals where travel is a factor, but where there’s a number of potential connects and contacts within those two groups,” he says. “Public Health is working now to try to confirm the source of the initial infection, and identify then, within those groups, who else may have been exposed.”
Dr. Strang says, despite several COVID-19 cases under investigation, there isn’t evidence of community spread yet.
He says thorough investigations are an important part of their pandemic response.
“But I think it’s important to point out that there is nothing, at this time, that points to general community spread.”
He says the province now has 16 active infections.
