A massive rally in support of the Black Lives Matter movement drew thousands in Halifax on Monday.
Supporters gathered on Spring Garden Road for ‘Take a Knee to Make a Stand’ event.
The road had to be shut down.
The crowd, including Halifax Mayor Mike Savage, took a knee for 8 mins and 46 seconds, which is how long former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin kneeled on George Floyd.
The gathering was a peaceful one, and included an online Take a Knee event for those who couldn’t attend in person.
