Nova Scotia’s Opposition House Leader says the government still has time to address a couple of issues with cannabis sales.
Argyle-Barrington MLA Chris d’Entremont says first of all, the province should tighten the rules and protocols around the online sales of weed through the NSLC.
He says although the government took measures to prevent people from getting around the access code, it still shows the system has its vulnerabilities
Shortly after cannabis became legal, someone posted an online video offering instructions on how to get around the code using the required access cards.
d’Entremont says the other problem is where cannabis is sold.
“The stores in the NSLC that cross-sales with alcohol and cannabis use. Many expert panels would say you shouldn’t do that, that they should be stand-alone stores.”
He says if the government had listened to the opposition’s concerns in the beginning, these problems would have been avoided.
