A ceremony to honour a pivotal moment in the Second World War.
The Wedgeport Legion will mark the 81st anniversary of D-Day this Friday.
D-Day saw over 14,000 Canadian soldiers storm Normandy Beach in France, hundreds were killed or captured.
Andre Boudreau with the legion says the day needs recognition.
“For me it brings the whole aspect of the Second World War together. The Italian campaign started a year before, so it ties everything together. It was an important day,” said Boudreau.
The ceremony is open to the public starting at 11 a.m.
A light reception will follow.
“This year is also the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Netherlands and the end of the War, so we’ll commemorate those events at the same time,” added Boudreau.
