A man from Sipekne’katik First Nation was arrested for assaulting a fishery officer.
It happened early Saturday morning near Highway 7 in Smiths Settlement.
DFO officers were attempting to inspect Eel Pond, and RCMP say a man in a vehicle collided with a uniformed officer who was on foot telling the driver to stop.
The officer was not hurt.
The 36-year-old was arrested, he’ll appear in court in August.
A search of his vehicle turned up an extendable baton and drug paraphernalia.
