A big clean-up in Yarmouth.
Scotian Shores is hosting their fourth annual Earth Day weekend event at Mariners Centre.
They’re encouraging people to collect garbage in the area and bring it to the centre, where there will be a BBQ and bouncy castles, as well as garbage-inspired art on display.
Angela Riley with Scotian Shores says the community always supports it.
“Go clean up in your favourite spot, the place that brings you joy. That’s what I always tell people. Whether it’s a beach, or just a ditch or side of the road you’re passing by. Bring it back to us at Mariners Centre, we’ll have a map where you can mark where you’ve cleaned,” said Riley.
On Sunday, they’re organizing a clean-up at Yarmouth Bar from noon-to-4 p.m.
Scotian Shores is also hosting school day clean-ups Friday at Drumlin Heights and Maple Grove.
Riley thanks Yarmouth MLA Nick Hilton, the Forchu Ladies, Waste Check and everyone that makes this weekend happen.
Scotian Shores and volunteers have removed over 60,000 pounds of garbage and debris in clean-ups so far in 2025.
