Construction of Yarmouth’s long awaited new emergency department is starting soon.
The province says activity will begin sometime next week at the hospital.
The new department will be able to care for 30 people at a time, right now it can only hold 14 people.
It will also feature space for four ambulances, two triage rooms, a trauma area, virtual care rooms with a kids waiting area, mental health and a dedicated ear-nose-throat exam room.
It’s expected to take two years to complete, there won’t be any chances to services at the hospital.
