A third place finish for a historic black church in Yarmouth.
The Sharon Assembly Church was in the ‘Next Great Save’ competition through the National Trust for Canada.
A group working to restore the property will get $5,000.
In a post, the National Trust says it’s important to ensure the building, which opened in 1877, continues to tell the story of African Nova Scotians in Yarmouth.
In the three years of the ‘Next Great Save’ competition, there’s been a top three finisher from Atlantic Canada.
The group wants to turn the building into a community centre.
