The best Junior C hockey players in our region are coming to Barrington.
The Southwest Storm are hosting the Maritime championships this Thursday to Sunday.
Southwest were knocked out in the first round of the Nova Scotia playoffs this season.
Head Coach Andrew Holland says they’ve excited for the challenge.
“We’ve had a little time to reset, practice and get re-focused here. We are expecting nothing but our best effort,” said Holland.
He expects lots of fans will turn out to support the Storm as always.
Their first game is Thursday night at 7:30 against PEI’s Sherwood Metros, an opening ceremony will be held before the game.
Holland says they’ve been preparing behind the scenes for a year.
“We have a great chairperson, Beth Anne Goreham has done a lot behind the scenes. Parents, volunteers, the coaching staff have all chipped in to make sure everything got done on time.”
He says there will be seafood chowder and more for sale at the curling club next to the arena.
Proceeds go toward the tournament and the club.
