Yarmouth town council is looking to improve the South End Playground.
Ideas were brought forward from the community last August, and the town is focusing on three of the most popular items.
They include the removal of the hill, a new outdoor pavilion and more green space and picnic tables.
Mayor Pam Mood says they’ve set aside $80,000.
“We want to get as much work done as possible. We may have to do work next year and the year after as well, but this has started and we’re really excited about that,” said Mayor Mood.
The town also approved the purchase of six picnic tables.
Mood says it’s important work.
“It opens up the space like it used to be. I spent many days on that playground when I was a kid.”
She says a new outdoor pavilion would provide a great community gathering space, shade and a place for concerts.
