The province is helping out the Digby Arena.
They announced $1.5 million for upgrades to the 38-year-old facility.
The rink had to close six weeks early this year because the ice-plant condenser broke down.
That meant hockey, figure skating and curling activities had to be held outside the community.
Digby MLA Jill Balser says the Digby Arena is an important hub for community life, and the improvements will make sure residents can use the facility for years to come.
The Digby Area Recreation Commission plans to have the arena open in the fall, with repairs to the condenser and structural issues with the building.
