Wastewater treatment, street work and a new roof at Mariners on Main
Yarmouth town council approved the capital budget for the upcoming fiscal year.
Mayor Pam Mood says budgets can be mapped out 10 years in advance.
“We do the needs of course, we like to look at the wants, but we have to make sure the major needs like wastewater and streets are covered first,” said the Mayor.
Other priorities include work at the Yarmouth International Ferry Terminal, fire services, snow removal equipment and the Yarmouth Curling Club.
Mood says the work at Mariners on Main is important to the community.
“It’s a 40-year-old roof, so we have to invest in that at $630,000.”
The former YMCA building is serving as a bridge facility until the Mariners Centre expansion project is ready in 2026.
The budget total is $5.4 million for 2025/26.
