Penalty trouble sent the Yarmouth Mariners to their third straight loss.
They fell 5-4 to the Amherst Ramblers on the road Thursday.
The Mariners were up 4-2 after 40 minutes on goals by Keefe Marshall, Jerome Nadeau, Justin Garneau and Alexis Tanguay.
But a checking-from-behind major from Alexi Parent put the Ramblers on a five-minute powerplay in the third.
Amherst would score three times on the man advantage to take the lead and hold on for the win.
Thomas Fontaine made 43 saves in the loss.
Earlier in the day, the Mariners completed a trade with Miramichi to bring back 20-year-old forward Jerome Gilbert.
He won an MHL championship with Yarmouth in 2023, Lorenzo Tita and Liam Noble were sent to the Timberwolves in the deal.
Gilbert had three assists in the game.
Yarmouth will hit the road for three in New Brunswick next weekend.
The Mariners sit two points back of Truro for the last playoff spot in the MHL’s Eastlink South Division.
They’re not back home until December 20 against Valley.
