The Yarmouth Mariners are hoping to build some momentum at home.
The Mariners host division-leading Summerside Friday and the red-hot Bearcats on Saturday night.
Currently, Yarmouth sits in last place in the Eastlink South Division with a record of 6-10-0-1, three points back of Pictou County for a playoff spot.
Head Coach and GM Laurie Barron says they’re coming off their best game of the season in Amherst last weekend.
“Everything in our division points wise is so important right now. We’re excited to be home this weekend, and excited to play two of the hottest teams in our division, so we’re looking forward to the challenge.”
The Mariners acquired two players from the Caps who will make their debut against their former club, forward Liam Duquette and defenseman Niklas Mokriakov.
“Duquette has great speed, and we feel he’s gritty and has lots of offence to give. Mokriakov is a good stay-at-home defender, you can’t teach 6 foot 4, and he gives us a left-handed shot back there.”
They’re still waiting for forwards Ethan Johnson and Alexis Tanguay to come back from injury, but Barron says they should return soon.
