A weekend split at home for the Yarmouth Mariners.
They beat the Pictou County Crushers 3-2 in overtime on Saturday, Jared Pitman had the winner as the team ended a two-game losing streak.
But then, a rough 6-1 loss Sunday afternoon to the last place Truro Bearcats.
Head Coach and GM Laurie Barron says the performance was on him.
“I thought we got embarrassed in our own barn. That hasn’t happened in a long time. Obviously, I didn’t have my team prepared to play today (Sunday) and that’s on me. I thought we didn’t have much fight once we got down,” said Barron.
The Mariners now have five wins through 15 games this season.
Barron says every game is tough.
“When we get 100 percent out of the 19 guys going, we can compete with anyone. Right now, everyone’s not going. There are too many good teams in this league, and you have to compete every night.”
Yarmouth will head on the road for games in Valley and Amherst this weekend.
