Nova Scotia wants Ottawa to pay the full cost of protecting the Chignecto Isthmus.
The vital trade passage between Nova Scotia and New Brunswick needs over $650 million in repairs to guard against flooding.
Premier Tim Houston says he met recently with Public Safety minister Dominic LeBlanc.
Houston says the province’s position has not changed.
“When we see the federal government pay 100 percent of a bridge in Quebec and nobody bats an eye, I’d love to see our MPs from Nova Scotia stand up and stand beside us,” said Houston.
The feds want both Nova Scotia and New Brunswick to split the cost of upgrades with them, which total $650 million.
Houston says Ottawa should pay the full cost, and he’s always open to more discussions.
