Workplace injuries are declining in Nova Scotia.
The Workers Compensation Board of Nova Scotia says 1.37 people of every 100 covered lost three or more days of work due to an injury.
Those numbers are from the first quarter of this year, and down from 1.4 at the end of 2023.
There were three deaths on the job, and three health-related deaths at the beginning of 2024.
It’s the first report under the board’s new strategic plan, which lasts until 2030.
CEO Karen Adams says no one should die at work or because of their work, and everyone should come home to their families.
The board adds that the number of people missing work was more than twice as high in 2003, when they became responsible for prevention.
