An early return for MLAs to Province House.
The fall session of the legislature will begin on Thursday, September 5.
Normally it’s late September or early October before the house is recalled.
Leader of the opposition Liberals Zach Churchill says he’s not sure why it’s happening sooner.
“I can’t read the Premier’s mind. There’s certainly a lot of speculation about an early election call. We’ll have to wait and see what happens,” said Churchill.
Churchill adds they’ll continue to work on legislation to make life more affordable.
“We want to cut the HST by two percentage points, and bring forward legislation to help the housing crisis and healthcare, that’s what we’ll be focused on in the leadup to September 5.”
Premier Tim Houston told Acadia News on July 29 that candidates being nominated are part of the lengthy process of getting ready for an election.
There has to be a provincial election by July, 2025.
