Southwest Nova Scotia is preparing to host Acadians from all over the world.
The 2024 Congres Mondial Acadien starts on August 10.
It begins with an opening ceremony at Universite Sainte-Anne in Church Point.
There are countless events through the following week in communities across Yarmouth County and beyond.
Trevor Murphy with the Congres says they need volunteers.
“Whatever your skill set is, we can bring you in and welcome you and help you be a part of this. You don’t have to speak French, culture transcends language, so if you aren’t French-speaking, don’t let that hold you back,” said Murphy.
He says most of the events are free, but there are a few that tickets need to be bought for.
Murphy says this will be an event to remember.
“This a very special week for Clare, Argyle and all the host areas. We encourage everyone to take part, the next one isn’t until 2029, so don’t miss your chance.”
