Nova Scotia’s Premier says he believes in the ferry link to Maine.
Bookings are up this year on the ‘CAT’ ferry between Yarmouth and Bar Harbor.
Speaking with Acadia News in Yarmouth, Tim Houston says it’s incredibly important to the province.
“A ferry has run every single year that there’s been a Progressive Conservative government. We understand the importance of the link, and it’s important to our province overall,” said the Premier.
An economic impact study is underway on the service, it’s due in the fall.
Houston says it’s a sincere effort to understand what the ferry brings to Nova Scotia.
“The provincial investment is significant, so we need to understand the impact and make good decisions.”
The province has a contract with Bay Ferries until 2026.
Houston is holding a meet-and-greet at the Yarmouth airport with other local PC candidates for the next election.
