Some students in Yarmouth County will be catching the bus earlier in September.
A slight change to hours for some schools.
The Tri-County Regional Centre for Education says it’s to address an abnormally long day at Maple Grove Education Centre, a Grade 6-8 school in Hebron.
School will start 20 minutes earlier and end 40 minutes earlier.
Executive Director Jared Purdy says they had to adjust hours at some other schools to make it work.
“We did that work through our transportation department, we were able to remedy the issue at Maple Grove, and have a much more reasonable instructional day with minimal impact at other schools,” said Purdy.
He says students have to wait too long at the end of the day at Maple Grove.
Other schools will start and end 5-15 minutes earlier.
“The biggest impact will be Carleton and Port Maitland, they’ll be going 10-15 minutes earlier. We’ve communicated this to principals, who will share this with their school families.”
Purdy says all the bus routes tie together, and pickup and drop-off times will reflect the changes.
