Two brand new viewing decks are in place at the Cape Forchu lightstation.
Accessibility was a key word, as now everyone can get a better view around Yarmouth’s most popular tourist attraction.
The work was funded by all three levels of government, at nearly $600,000.
Municipality of Yarmouth Warden John Cunningham says it’s huge for the region.
“We keep talking about things for people to do, there’s even more out here at the Cape now. We still have our amazing Leif Erikson trail, along with better views of the ocean,” said Cunningham.
Argyle MLA Colton LeBlanc says the lighthouse and property are important for tourism in the area.
“I may be biased, but this is the most beautiful lighthouse in Nova Scotia. We’re really happy to collaborate with our partners to meet our accessibility goals in the province as well,” said LeBlanc.
A grand opening was held Friday, a new restaurant is also featured on the property this year.
