A sight that signifies the start of tourism season in Yarmouth.
The ‘CAT’ ferry sailed into Yarmouth harbour this morning, two weeks ahead of its season opening trip.
Neil MacKenzie with the Yarmouth and Acadian Shores Tourism Association says they have lots of things planned this year.
“The season is looking really strong. The ferry still brings in most of the visitors. I think with the combination of the ferry and the Congres Mondial Acadien, we’re going to have a really great season,” said MacKenzie.
The ‘CAT’ carried over 38,000 passengers between Yarmouth and Bar Harbor, Maine last season.
MacKenzie says the service has a huge impact on the province, as passengers stay longer and spend more on average.
