A house fire in Yarmouth County.
It’s at a residence on Highway 3 in Arcadia.
Yarmouth fire chief Mike Deveau says the call came in just after 1 p.m. Friday.
“There was a heavy fire at the back of the house. Career staff and volunteers knocked the fire down, then made entry to the second floor and the attic, and knocked the bulk of it down,” said Deveau.
There were no injuries, two pets were rescued but Deveau says a dog was not able to escape.
RCMP and Nova Scotia Power crews at the scene took the surviving animals to the Parade Street Animal Hospital.
The Lakes and District and Wedgeport departments provided mutual aid, while Port Maitland helped out Yarmouth firefighters at a separate brush fire in Rockville.
Deveau says they are still doing overhaul at the scene, and traffic is being detoured on Highway 3 as of 3 p.m.
No word on the cause of the house fire at this time.
