It’s wildfire season in Nova Scotia.
The Department of Natural Resources and Renewables attended seven fires over the weekend.
A burn ban was in effect for most of the province.
Jim Rudderham, the department’s director of fleet and forest protection says citizens need to pay attention to restrictions.
“If you’re going to do anything with an open fire outside, make sure you check the restrictions, and make sure you can put it out if you do start one. Also, make sure you can call for help if you need it,” said Rudderham.
Some of the province did receive rain on Monday, but it’ll be dry quickly again.
The department says they’re addressing recommendations from an independent report on last year’s wildfire season.
They include more wildfire training, better response plans and improving mental and physical health for firefighters.
