Another storm has come and gone.
There were some scattered power outages and reports of flooding.
Shane Strong with Yarmouth’s Regional Emergency Management Office says the floods happened during high-tide.
“We always have our trouble spots that we can foresee having flooding issues. Certainly along the shoreline, and areas like Quinan, we’re always keeping our eye on that,” said Strong.
Waters were especially high on Highway 304 in Yarmouth Bar near Cape Forchu, where a small building was destroyed.
Strong says they weren’t on scene, but they did see some photos.
“We knew there would be high water and storm surge. Citizens let us know about damage, and it seems like it’s becoming more common these days. That area is notorious for it.”
The highest wind gust at the Yarmouth Airport was 98 kilometres an hour.
Victoria Brooks, CAO of the Municipality of Yarmouth says Highway 304 is managed by the province.
She says the municipality has written a letter of support for the province to go after disaster assistance funding for the area, to help manage the impact of climate change.
