A former MP and Senator from Southwestern Nova Scotia has died.
Gérald Comeau of Meteghan River passed away Monday at the age of 77 after a battle with cancer.
He was elected in 1984 as the Conservative MP for South West Nova Scotia.
Comeau was named to the Senate by Prime Minister Brian Mulroney in 1990.
He retired from the Senate in 2013.
The Acadian Federation of Nova Scotia says Comeau was always proud of his culture and always worked for the development of his community.
