A Yarmouth County man won a provincial tourism contest in Halifax.
Tim Doucette’s pitch for his Deep Sky Eye Observatory in Quinan won $5,000 through Ignite Atlantic and TIANS.
Doucette says it involves a planetarium for the facility.
“It would essentially allow us to have stargazing, or presentations and experiences during the times when we have cloudy weather here,” said Doucette.
He says many people are disappointed when weather doesn’t cooperate, and this would allow them to have an experience rain or shine.
“The closest planetarium is in Halifax, 3 hours away. This makes it a lot better for folks visiting here. I believe it will generate tourism revenue for our area.”
Doucette says he learned a lot through the process, and encourages entrepreneurs to enter next year’s contest.
