Interested in becoming a police officer?
Shelburne RCMP want to hear from you in the Tri-Counties.
A community meeting is scheduled for Wednesday night at the Black Loyalist Heritage Centre from 5-7 p.m.
Staff Sgt. Mark MacPherson says they’ll be talking about recruitment.
“We’re looking for people from all diverse backgrounds. We’ll discuss the aspects of applying, basic training and more, then we’ll be answering questions,” said Sgt. MacPherson.
He says he’d like to see more people from this area pursue a career with the RCMP.
The meeting will also focus on matters of mutual concern between police and the public.
RCMP held 9 meetings through the spring in Shelburne County.
Sgt. MacPherson says it’s crucial to have that connection.
“We discussed policing initiatives, things we worked towards, some of them are provincial directives that we get from our commanding officer, some are local concerns.”
MacPherson says road safety, gender based violence and human trafficking were just some of the topics discussed.
