Events are happening to celebrate our night sky.
The Starlight Festival is taking place in communities throughout Southwestern Nova Scotia until Sunday.
Yarmouth and Acadian Shores received a UNESCO starlight reserve designation in 2014.
Tim Doucette with the Deep Sky Eye Observatory says it’s big for the area.
“It’s one of those things that makes our region stand out from many places in Canada and around the world. It helps draw tourists, and it will only continue to grow. Many businesses are also offering stargazing experiences,” said Doucette.
The festival has returned for the first time since 2019.
