A march through Yarmouth raised some money for veterans.
Saturday’s 15 kilometre ‘Rucksack March’ brought awareness to soldiers suffering from PTSD.
This year it was in honour of the late Sergeant Tyson Bowen, who became an advocate for veterans and mental health.
Organizer Todd Muise says it was a great turnout.
“We had RCMP, the fire department, the 84th Independent Field Battery, along with special guests. We had Tyson’s family with us too. And Zach Churchill and Colton LeBlanc walked with us,” said Muise.
Sgt. Bowen’s family contributed over $5,000, with the funds going to Rally Point Retreat.
Muise says their biggest goal is raising awareness.
“If you need help out there and if you’re a veteran or first responder, there is help out there. It starts by going for coffee with a friend, that’s a great thing to do.”
