Hockey is back in Yarmouth.
The Mariners have returned for training camp, 2 weeks ahead of the regular season.
They’ll be looking to defend their MHL championship.
Head Coach and GM Laurie Barron says 43 players are taking part in camp.
“We’ve had some really good drafts, and we’re starting to see that talent show up at training camp. We also added some free agents, there’s lots of great players here,” said Barron.
Key names like Keegan Warren, Jerome Gilbert and Jared Pitman are back in the fold.
Barron says there’s a great mix.
“Some guys may be here for the weekend and go back to their U18 teams, but there are probably 27-28 guys that could come in and play on our hockey club this season.”
Inter-squad games go Saturday night and Sunday afternoon at Mariners Centre, they’re free to watch.
Their only preseason home game is Saturday, September 9th against Valley.
The Mariners will raise their MHL championship banner on Saturday, September 15th against Summerside.
