A second man has been charged in relation to a 2021 Cape Breton homicide. This comes after police charged a 42-year-old suspect from Glace Bay for second-degree murder in early July, now for the homicide of 51-year-old David Sheppard. Police say a second suspect, aged 27 from New Waterford was also involved. He too is charged with second-degree murder.
Police say 51-year-old David Sheppard was assaulted in his home, during a break and enter on January 18, 2021 on Brookland Street in Glace Bay. He then died in a Halifax hospital nine days later.
The 27-year-old suspect is also facing second-degree murder charges for the homicide of 42-year-old Christopher Reid, who also died in January 2021. Police say Reid was found injured outside in Dominion, then died shortly after.
The 27-year-old will appear in provincial court today facing two counts of Second-Degree Murder, as well as Break and Enter with Intent and Mischief over $5,000.
