The Confederation Bridge will undergo a second and final overnight closure this weekend due to ongoing maintenance.
Strait Crossing Bridge Limited (SCBL) says the bridge will be closed from 10 p.m. Saturday until 6 a.m. Sunday except for emergency vehicles.
The company says the closure is necessary to pour concrete for the replacement of an expansion joint.
The work began earlier this spring and the last overnight closure was May 13.
“This full closure will be the last related to this expansion joint replacement,” stated Alexis Reynaud, Deputy General Manager of SCBL.
“We realize this is an inconvenience but as seen in the first closure, the travelling public responded with much understanding such that only a handful of travellers were impacted during the closure. Our communication is to ensure the same outcome this Saturday,” added Reynaud.
RCMP will be present in the area.
“We will be conducting patrols during the full closure. At this time we remind all travellers to plan ahead and avoid disappointment Saturday night,” noted RCMP Staff Sergeant Neil Logan.
