‘Game-changing’ x-ray equipment is now in use at Yarmouth and Roseway hospitals.
The digital machines help provide faster x-rays and use less raditation than older models.
The Yarmouth Hospital Foundation provided most of the funding for the machine in Yarmouth, while the Roseway Hospital Auxillary and Foundation teamed up for Shelburne’s.
Dr. Chris Connolly, Director of Diagnostic Imaging for the Western Zone says the foundation have been strong advocates.
“They often give us information from the community that we use to plan for the future. They’ve been absolutely incredible partners. I don’t want to position them as just funders, because they are so much more than that,” said Dr. Connolly.
He says having a reliable x-ray machine will reduce pressure on the hospitals.
“We know this is a new, modern piece of equipment that can be up and running full time.”
Small receptions were held at each hospital this week.
