More options for rural paramedic training in Nova Scotia.
The Primary Care Paramedic program starts next month in Yarmouth.
Medavie HealthEd Program Manager Brad Reid says the 50-week course puts you through the paces, and helps you become part of an emergency medical team.
“We have hands on training, classroom, and also a component that does on the job training as well,” said Reid.
Reid says there has been a lot of interest in the area, and now they’re working with applicants on next steps.
“I think having the availability for people in this area, without having to travel to Halifax to take the course, will allow more people to take the program and more people to be able to work in the profession.
The province is also providing an $11,500 tuition rebate for those who take the program and commit to work the next three years in Nova Scotia.
