The spring-sitting of the Nova Scotia Legislature begins tomorrow.
Opposition Liberal leader Zach Churchill says he’ll be focused on the worsening healthcare situation.
“We’ve got twice as many people without a family doctor as we did when Tim Houston began his time as Premier. We’ve also got double the amount of emergency room closures,” said Churchill.
He says it’s affecting people’s lives in very significant ways.
The Liberals plan to bring forward several pieces of legislation on the issue.
Affordability is something else the Liberals plan to address.
Churchill said it’s important to keep money in people’s pockets.
“We think it’s smart to index our income tax to inflation. If your household made $75,000 last year, it’s worth less money now. We think you should be taxed a lesser amount.”
He says the goal is to hold the Houston government accountable.
The provincial government kept busy last week with several funding announcements across the province covering housing to recreation.
The budget will be delivered in this session.
