A long wait is over for the Universite Ste-Anne men’s volleyball team.
They won the ACAA championship on home court Saturday, defeating Holland College in straight sets.
It’s the fifth ever title for the Dragons and the first in 27 years.
League-MVP and Plymouth, Yarmouth County native Alec Cottreau says the team performed during the highest stakes.
“I mean it’s always great getting your name heard as MVP of the league, but we couldn’t have made it this far without the team we have. Everyone has put in the work and it’s paid off,” said Cottreau.
Head Coach Jason Melanson was also named Coach of the Year.
Cottreau tells us the coach deserves a lot of credit.
“Jay has been crucial for us all year long. He’s been a dedicated coach for years and has played competitive volleyball. We just have to dial in, listen to our coach, and we’ll be fine.”
Now the Dragons will head to nationals next weekend in Toronto.
