A dead whale washed up in Yarmouth County recently.
It was discovered Monday at Wedgeport Point.
The Marine Animal Response Society says it was a 19 foot long pilot whale.
Tonya Wimmer with the society says they are common visitors to Nova Scotian waters.
“Through spring and fall especially, and more often in Cape Breton. We do get some stragglers through the later part of the year. They’re one of our more common species, but not usually in the winter,” says Wimmer.
She says the whale has been transported to Truro to determine the cause of death.
Wimmer thanks Rhyno’s Towing for delivering the whale to the Agricultural College.
