The annual Whirligig and Weathervane Festival returns this weekend on Dock Street in Shelburne.
The Whirligig & Weathervane Exhibition is back with registration from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Director of the Whirligig Festival Committee Therese Cruz discussed the origin of the event.
“It was actually started by part-time Shelburners. They’re from the US and they wanted to start this festival so this is actually one of the two, that we know of, in the world.”
Cruz says the only other festival they know of is in North Carolina.
There’s also going to be free entry to the museum and plenty of food, craft and art vendors. The full list of events for Saturday and Sunday can be found here.
Cruz also shared a message to bring people out.
“There is going to be a family event as well, like the children’s whirligig painting workshop,” says Cruz. “There’s face painting for the kids, there’s food, fun and hopefully we get some wind too.”
