A cyclist from Digby is the top Nova Scotian fundraiser for the Great Cycle Challenge Canada.
Dr. Neil Pothier has raised nearly 12-thousand dollars during the month of August, his initial goal was 500 dollars.
Pothier has biked over 580 kilometres so far to raise money in the fight against childhood cancer.
He says the support has been amazing.
“We had over 15 thousand participants across Canada that raised over seven million dollars so far. In that, I’m ranked 15th in fundraising efforts,” says Pothier.
He’s doing it in memory of a childhood friend who passed away of Leukemia.
Pothier is hosting a fundraising event on Saturday at 11:30 on Shore Road in Digby.
Cyclists are encouraged to come join in a five kilometre bike-ride from the old tourist bureau to the ferry terminal and back, and make a donation.
