Work to build the Yarmouth Splash Park is underway on the grounds of Mariners Centre.
An official opening date is not yet confirmed, but organizers are committed to having it up and running before the end of summer.
Committee chair Linda Gallagher says Nova Scotia Power is on site today, and the concrete for the pad is being installed.
“Fixtures are going to be installed, there will be some training. We have to do some landscaping around the pad to make sure it’s safe and accessible,” says Gallagher.
She says the park will be fenced in, so small children won’t be able to wander.
Gallagher says the timing of opening may not be perfect, but the area will be able to enjoy the Splash Park for years to come.
“When they said they were on site today, I cried. It’s been a great journey, and I’m so excited.”
The community helped fundraise over $350,000.
