The 2022 Yarmouth Shark Scramble is upon us.
On Wednesday, several boats are scheduled to leave Yarmouth Harbour in search of the biggest sharks to bring back for weigh-ins on Saturday.
Organizer Bob Gavel says a delay is possible due to weather.
“Winds at 25 knots we generally postpone. It’s giving fine, diminishing through the day, and then looking good for Thursday and Friday.
There are 11 boats and 102 participants for this year’s scramble.
Gavel says the boats will have to travel at least eight-to-12 hours off-shore.
A life-sized replica of a Canadian record Mako shark caught during the 2004 Shark Scramble is in place on the Yarmouth waterfront.
