Public consultation on a municipal boundary review is coming up in the Municipality of the District of Yarmouth.
Council is considering two scenarios, one is to remain status quo with seven elected councillors, and a slight adjustment of districts.
Warden John Cunningham says the other option is to reduce the number of councillors by one, and move to a mayoral system.
“If you run in the mayoral system, you’re running in the whole municipality. not just one district. There are pros and cons to both, but it’s a matter of the people deciding what they want,” says Cunningham.
The public can have their say next Thursday night, August 4th at the Hebron Rotary Centre starting at 6 p.m.
The next day, there will be a drop-in at Dayton Red and White from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The municipality has to file a report to the Utility and Review Board this fall.
