The world’s oldest Acadian festival is back in full swing this year.
Festival Acadien de Clare begins on Saturday with an opening ceremony, and a parade in Church Point on Sunday.
Sierra Comeau, events coordinator for the festival says it’s important to preserve Acadian heritage.
“We really want to show everyone what we have down here. We’re a super small area that a lot of people don’t know about, and we’re just excited to share it with everyone,” says Comeau.
Events took place virtually the last two years.
The parade will go through Church Point, with many events at Universite Sainte-Anne.
Until August 6th, there will be activities and music celebrating Clare’s Acadian culture.
There are also events scheduled for National Acadian Day on August 15th.
