The leader of Nova Scotia’s Liberals met with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau yesterday to discuss the biggest issues facing Nova Scotians.
Zach Churchill says healthcare was the highlight of their discussion and they need to work closely with the feds.
“I was really pleased to be able to keep the lines of communication open, even while I’m in opposition, with our federal government,” says Churchill. “We all really do have to work together on the big issues that are affecting Nova Scotians and Canadians at this time.”
They also discussed the ways the provincial government hasn’t fulfilled their promises to fix healthcare.
“We are in agreement on that and there’s concern of what’s going to happen to our healthcare system in the seventh wave, we have a provincial government that is just taking a position with COVID-19 that it’s out of mind out of sight and this is creating significant risks for our healthcare system.”
Churchill says he told Trudeau the problems lie with labour shortages and hospitals being overrun with COVID-19 patients.
He added they also discussed the cost of living and inflation pressures.
