A 66-year-old Digby County woman died in a house fire early yesterday morning.
It happened on Highway 217 in Roxville just before 4 a.m.
A 76-year-old man was able to escape the home, but RCMP say due to the severity and unsafe conditions of the building, the woman was found inside the home later in the morning and pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The Digby Fire Department responded, along with departments from Bear River, Smith’s Cove, Brighton/Barton, Digby Neck and Weymouth.
